History of your farm

Our farm was founded in the 1890's by my great grandfather Andrew Richter. I'm the 4th generation of farmers in the Endicott area.

Why do you think direct seeding is important to the future of agriculture?

We need to be the best stewards of the land. It has greatly increased the organic matter of our soils and the increased water penetration is significant. We can't afford to let our soils be depleted by the effects of erosion.

Why are you involved with Shepherd’s Grain?

I liked the concept of knowing where my grain was going. Producing crops that stay in the local area also appealed to me.

Why do you think it is important to develop relationships between the grower and Shepherd’s Grain customers?

I believe it is important to be responsible and sustainable in all my farming practices. Our customers need to know that we are doing the best that is possible in preserving our soils and our way of life.
